It’s official, chickens. My poem: Wash Day has been fluffed, folded and pressed into the June edition of PDF Zine: Handful of Dust. For those of you playing along at home, that’s Handful of Dust issue #7--seh•ven–a numerical value significant to the issue first; dwarves, gamblers, & world wonders thereafter.
But not “there least”. And while I’m sure a punchline lurks within the terms: “Handful of Dust” and “Wash Day”…a clothes-bedecked punchline or TIDE commercial both, neither are readily apparent right now. (Right now being the night before the official release). So I’ll just pretreat myself with a generous splash of backburner, REM & Spray-n-Wash, and hope that metaphorical set-in spot evidences itself later, at which point I’ll add it in like a lavender-scented sachet among the creases of this post. Else it will all come out in the wash. (more likely)
Stop by Handful of Dust when you can. Break a date if you have to. Steal a PC. All detergent entendres aside, the PDF is beautifully rendered and brimming with great sentences. The background graphic provided for Wash Day by Gail Denham titled: “Arches” compliments the concept of the poem’s focus and then some, but you’ll have surf over to find out what laundry concepts entail beyond the obvious hamper-harvesting.
On final spin, I’d like to note that since H.O.D. is hosted on the same network as CHARRON’s CHATTER, a Laundry List of Comments can be made there same as here, and it would really mean a lot to the Washer Woman in the poem if you signed the guest book. She might even stop mixing the whites in with the colors.
Meantime. Thanks for the support, chickens, and please clean the lint screen when you’re done. 🙂
