    I’ve walked across the Golden Gate bridge twice now and I’m always struck by the hotline phones, and the signs about suicide and seeking help.

      I’ve only been once–years ago, now–and yes. The call boxes and warning signs still stand out in my memory. That video image of the one jumper; the African American with his back to the camera the whole time, really tugged at my heartstrings. He seemed so defeated…but then: Kevin.
