when I as a kid, I
always wished
for asthma
for broken bones in casts
for learning disability
and sass
you got special attention from Mom and prof Dr. Dad
I noticed
from Teacher, too,
but I never did have any of those problems, though one time
I did surprise the 1st grade teacher by getting all the math problems wrong
Mrs. Stevenson, her name was—I can still remember all
my teachers names, but I suppose every 1 can,
she just looked at me incredulously—so cliché—and sighed laboriously
more cliché–explaining basic math
while I purred algebraically,
ruse = remarkable
Fun with phonics was a fail, and I
cant recall

Did I mention I’ve developed hypochondria?
It promises to be chronic, and
the only cure
is
vigilant disapproval.
