Kitty has claws…

Is that a surprise?

I tell you because–

word to the wise?

Underneath Kitty’s

fluffy disguise,

are razor-sharp tips

on lightning-quick paws.

Yes, Kitty

—though pretty—

and sweet in her sway,

should be sidestepped

because

Kitty don’t play.

Guppy’s no better.

A regular eel.

Likely to leap

from his bowl

without reel,

targeting eyes and

other soft places,

scarring with wheals

and other Fish traces,

his own Fishy deal, I–

–tell you, he chases

you round, till he keels

from these waterless races–

–Guppy’s no better.

He puts you

through paces.

No better–

than Kitty,

as mentioned before,

the better,

–the less–

for attention,

not more,

and don’t get me

started on Puppy’s

dementia–

that mutt’s

just a nut,

a treat-seeking

glut–

worse still

than Guppy

–and Kitty–

combined,

whose talons,

(while hidden)

bear keeping in mind.
