What You Pick & What You Pack

Emotion wells outside the box,

Pandor’amour—it spills

defying pen—transcending talk

is sentiment unstopped

apart from wile and will

emotion wells outside the box

no matter rule or tick of clocks

true beats the heart unstilled

defying pen—transcending talk

is surge that often shocks

a rockin’ role that thrills

emotion wells outside the box

discounting those within who mock

since ignorance is shrill

defying pen—transcending talk

this sometimes paradox

where spirit soars until

emotion wells outside the box

defying pen—transcending talk

Peep Rally

Sometimes you just wanna

wear sweats

–in public

–every day

–every occasion,

all Seinfeld surrender, but if you

give in to this

ah…

luxury,

it’s a long way back to

leggings

–business casual, and dress up.

Sure, those shirts may no

longer suit

–too revealing

–too constricting, or

–too bright, and too dull

and that jacket seams better off

than on, and that’s ok.

when the sun shines,

you don’t need to insulate,

and the sun always shines summer

somewhere

while shorts are sweats in disguise

(aren’t they)

as comfortable as, without much thought.

So get up.

Stay up.

Suit up, and

show,

since nudity went out with

the fig leaf,

and it’s always tasteful

to be

fashion forward.

Over Easy

Life is

a recipe.

With mixes,

and blends,

and possible combinations

of infinite ingredients you

sometimes choose

and sometimes find

tossed in your cart–

by a mystery shopper

–when you’re not paying attention.

amateur chef show

you have a second to decide

–and a lifetime

how you tie the tid-bits together.

If it’s already processed,

it still can be changed–

Pan in hand and

menu plan on plate

–will you deep fry that Twinkie?

Toss it out, and eat the arguably more healthy cellophane?

and if it’s fresh

–but bland–

will you douse it with sauce

>sweet or savory<

char it on coals

/cut on the bias/

and garnish with herbs?

if it’s bitter

–will you sweeten?

it it’s sour

–are you cool?

if it’s a Costco pallet

of unplanned

>purchased without specs<

will you skip it altogether?

Or make a trifle all your own?

Will you say you’re

all thumbs

in the kitchen

–which we all can appreciate

or will you suffer a few burns

. . .

(roll up sleeves)

–and learn.

Contrary Mar’e

it’s hard

to brake

a riderless horse

–but not impossible.

enlisting a middleman

is a good place to start

–if your ego will allow it

and it’s super

if your

stable

is equipped

for ersatz equine,

still better

(id say)

if you’re

mindful…

a natural-born

horse whisperer

–pockets full

of sugar.

Skipping Stone

when crossing raging rivers–

where moss

obscures

surface

stones

–that rattle in their beds

it’s essential to

keep eyes

on

the next step,

to maintain balance, and make

it to the other side…

Soot Case

I tossed

toiletries

–encased in make-up

kits,

I launched

Kindle books

–enwrapped in pleather pads,

I lobbed

carry on

–complete with shoulder straps,

I threw dirty duds

–drug through endless muck,

I pitched Samsonites

–along with broken wheel

I stole unchecked bags

–grabbed from carousel,

and spinning, I

ex-claimed–

lightened

but laden

(anew)

so chagrinned

to pass through gate,

and different sky

–lacking cap.
